Recently Moore Staffing Accounting, Bookkeeping and Finance Staffing Solutions Team was hard a work finding our start up CPA firm client a part time Bookkeeper to join their team. Having just started on their own a little over a year ago, our CPA client was ready for the growth that adding an additional member of the team would bring. With this collaboration with Moore, our CPA client was able to focus on preparing for this upcoming season and acquiring new clients while relinquishing the burden of hiring to us.

Utilizing our bookkeeping, small business and start up expertise, we knew this candidate would have to be spectacular at their bookkeeping responsibilities but also have the insight to understand the flexibility that comes in a startup role. Not only was this placement a great fit for our client but our team was able to find the perfect opportunity for our candidate, matching company culture, values and future goals. Tis the Season… For Hiring!

Tis the Season… For Hiring!

Looking to hire soon? To ensure 2021 starts off with success hiring shouldn’t be delayed anymore. Here are a few things to think about and why should hire now with a delayed start date in mind.

  1. The Holidays
    • Holidays are varied and not everyone celebrates in the same way. That candidate that may be your top choice is looking to take those vacation days and maximize the time they have to celebrate this year. And to be honest, you probably have days off to take too. Waiting until the holidays or just after creates more of a struggle.
  2. Hiring Time
    • Hiring a new employee takes time. Delaying hiring until when you come back means a delayed start in your team’s full force potential.
  3. Delayed starts
    • Most people around this time expect a delayed start because employees that would train and onboard them are taking days off. Even hiring someone at the beginning of the year could mean they aim to start February 1st. And that’s a month of missed productivity.
  4. Maximize Productivity and success
    • Setting up a team for success means having a full team. Planning for the following year can become a struggle when there is a spot left unfilled.
  5. Starting the year on the right foot
    • With an employee hired now and fully trained, your team can get straight to work making your envisioned success a reality. This would otherwise be a scramble with gaps in the team being held together with overworked employees who are still sluggish from their time off.
  6. Ending the year efficiently
    • With a few weeks left in the year, there is still time to end the year efficiently with some extra members on the team.

Tis the Season For hiring!

We have just the candidates you need to make sure all your hiring is done and you can just enjoy the holidays. Being the winner of Clearly Rated’s Best of Staffing Award 3 years running proves our expertise in finding you the candidates you’re looking to onboard and fast!

Self-Care for the Waiting Game

Self-Care for the Waiting Game

Self-Care for the Waiting Game

If you are like us at Moore Staffing, it was a stressful day yesterday, late night and continues to be a stressful time for, we aren’t sure how long. Outside of everything that was already stressful, we are still awaiting results of very polar presidential election. So how do we take care of ourselves in the meantime?

Remind yourself it’s okay to feel

Sometimes ignoring works, other times are feelings are too big to comprehend. But where ever you are at in your process, remind yourself to be kind to yourself. Your feelings are likely to change, get worse and get better throughout this process. I’m sure everyone’s telling you, but positivity can be toxic too, and it’s okay to feel what you feel and your feelings are valid.

As a team, we realize that politics is not something to discuss at work. If it is brought up, try to deflect and not engage. Even if you agree with them, others may be listening or overhear your conversation.

This also holds true for news/media outlets and social media. They are going to be pools for unanswered questions, fearful thinking, misinformation and disinformation. Avoid them.

But how do you check up on the current state? Well I would avoid that as much as you can but an easy way to check without the commotion of external commentary is a simple google search: united states election results. It will bring up a map and the current states we are waiting to hear from/ where they are at. You can look at and interpret the data yourself without any influence.

Life Line

Still, you need to find a life line where you can express your thoughts. We recommend outside of your work circle, with a friend or family, even online. It’s important to find someone who shares your views but is also productive. Confiding in someone who is going to perpetuate the negative spiral can be extremely detrimental to your own mental health.

Write a list or make notes

Your brain will likely want to murder you for these next few days. You are going to be all over the place, have to function like normal at work and turn around and scream at the computer screen or tv when different results pull in or some politician says something stupid about something. You will forget something. It’s inevitable. Write a list so at least you won’t forget about it for too long where it becomes a problem. Your brain will thank you later.

Get a list going of your favorite things

Not only is it fun to think of the little things that simply change your mood, it will be a great go to for any time you feel anxious or out of control. Movies, music, drinks, food, desserts, people, celebrities, hobbies, books…. Just keep going. The time it will take to think of them all will be less time you’re thinking of other things. Plus the second youre bored with something, youll be able to jump to the next thing on your list.

Make a playlist

Remember those favorites you were writing down, take the music a step further and make a playlist. Maybe a few. Dance it out, veg it out, and meditate it out. Even if it’s for 5 minutes. That’s 5 minutes you spent not worrying about it.

Work it Out

Whether it be a walk, a run, a Zumba YouTube video or lifting weights in that basement home gym you’ve attempted to create, get some movement in your life. This is great for those endorphins and chances are we should have been doing this one already.

Marathon it. Pick a TV show and binge. NO shame. Movies and TV shows are a great way to enter another world and stay there for a while. Plus their problems take over our thoughts and we can forget about our own. Do we have recommendations… uh yes! Check them out here!

Speaking of other worlds, books can carry us to them too. Have you ever seen The Never Ending Story? It’s practically the basis and for a reason. Pull the book off the shelf you never read because life got in the way and dive in. Chances are you’ll be pleasantly surprised and you may burn and hour or two if it’s really good.

Everyone loves food- not everyone is great at cooking- but everyone loves food. Pull out a recipe, have your favorite takeout on back up and get to cooking. Maybe even pick dessert for dinner today. But cooking will not only make you spend time focusing on something, but also give you a great results at the end. Feel proud when you’re done, not matter how good it tastes.

Remember the last time you did an art project? Maybe it was high school, maybe it was yesterday, but everyone has a pencil/pen and paper. Try to be creative. Art is one of those things that is meant to be expressive. Utilize it here and try to have fun.

The Little Things

Don’t forget them. And I’m not talking about the little things you should be grateful for, because quite frankly they don’t measure up in our brain right now. I’m talking about getting that cozy blanket, that perfect cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate and forcing your dog or cat to snuggle with you. Your environment is a big thing that seems little at the moment. Add a candle that smells like home. Or decide you’re going to take a nice bubble bath for the first time in years. Its little but they add up.

Do some research

For some of us, becoming more knowledgeable about the distress at hand will actually make us feel more in control. For example, looking up your rights as an employee, or researching how the electoral college works or how to become more involved in your community relief efforts. If you’re not one of these people, don’t start now. Not the greatest time to test it out.

Sometimes that even entails trying to make progress on the parts of life we can make progress in. Maybe that means seeing what’s out there for your next job opportunity. Moore staffing is always here to help with that and will assist you in finding your next step or getting you your next employee. Email teams@moorestaffing.com

Last Minute Voting- What you need to know.

Last Minute Voting- What you need to know.

Last Minute Voting- What you need to know.

Voters Registration:

If you live in New Hampshire, you’re in luck! New Hampshire allows for same day voters registration, and while New Hampshirites think the rest of the country should follow suit, unfortunately that is not the case.

If you live in Massachusetts or many other states, voters registration ended about a week ago. You can still make a difference though. Make sure you are registered for the future here and start having those difficult conversations with the people around you! You still have time to influence their thinking.

Absentee Ballots:

Due to the pandemic, many of you have chosen to vote via absentee ballot. The biggest thing with voting this way is DATES MATTER! Hard stop. There is no way around this. The first date you need to be aware of is TOMORROW. If you do not have your ballot post marked with tomorrow’s date, 11/03/2020, your vote will not be counted.

You also have the opportunity to drop off your ballot to a designated place of voting by TOMORROW, 11/03/2020. If it is not received by tomorrows date, it will NOT be counted.

Massachusetts also has a received by date, 11/06/2020 to be counted for the election. Generally speaking, I would aim for this date no matter where you live. If it is not received by this date, it will NOT be counted.

In Person Voting:

Find your voting place first! We will link resources below on how you can search for your voting place and their specific requirements. Because of the pandemic, polling locations may have changed from previous years. Even if they have remained the same, parking situations may be different if you are planning to drive. Plan ahead!

In person voting is likely to take longer due to the constraints of the covid19 virus and health precautions being taken. Regardless of political views, we recommend showing up with a mask on. This will make the process go faster for you, as well as, the people waiting behind you.

Bring your government issued ID. It is necessary to verify you. Chances are you live in a state where this idea must include a picture of you. Here is a quick list of IDs that are valid:

  • driver’s licenses
  • state-issued ID cards
  • military ID cards
  • passports

Some states will accept other forms of ID. Make sure to verify before trying to vote, so you can adjust your plan if that form of ID is denied. Some states have extra measures for those who are voting without one of the accepted forms of identification to ensure that every vote counts.

You can also bring notes, a voters’ guide and a sample ballot into the voting booth with you! Sometimes it’s hard to memorize every decision we have to make. Having these notes or a sample ballot that you have written on will help us make a more informed decision on voting day and make it faster. We recommend hand written notes rather than using your phone since some polling places restrict cell phone use.

Final Thoughts:

Hearing people tell you to vote 24/7 is annoying- we know every celebrity out there has made some kind of post or video telling you to do it. But it’s important you do. What’s even more important is that you do the research for what your vote will mean beforehand.

Elections change many aspects of the way the country is run, especially employment. With the outcome of the election, employment may change for companies and individuals – we want you to know we are always here to help. Whether you are looking for your next employee or employment opportunity, the Moore Staffing Family is dedicated to driving success for both our candidates and clients.
